New Gear: Custom SLR Launches M-Plate Universal Tripod Mount

Last October we covered Custom SLR's plans to develop the M-Plate , a Kickstarter-funded universal tripod mount — a project which has now come to fruition.  Custom SLR has officially released the M-Plate, and it's up for order on their store  for $74.95. The advantage to strapping this extra chunk of aluminum to your camera is that it allows compatibility with a huge number of devices.

It's designed to flawlessly work with Manfrotto RC2 and Arca-Swiss style tripod heads, and it has mounting points for other plate systems. Custom SLR claim it can mesh with Acratech, Benro, FoBA, Induro, Kirk, Novoflex, RRS Really Right Stuff, and Wimberly heads, too. It also allows connection to camera strap systems like Custom SLR's own C-Loop, as well as BlackRapid, Sun Sniper, Spider Holster, and Cotton Carrier straps. Custom SLR also states the accessory relocates the tripod socket "making it easier to shoot portrait shots."

I gotten Manfrotto 410 Junior Geared Head - Replaces 3275 - items this morning. It proved helpful exactly as advertised. Beneficial unit. User helpful to the idea that I did not desire to go through any instructions to operate. Checked the distances with other product and appears to be to be very exact. Glad I made the choose. I would tend to recommend this item to you.

  What a beautiful sunrise this morning, with red streaks across the sky, was all I could do not to insist we pull over and stop so that I could photograph it all. We were out the door just before 7am defrosting the car to follow my friend Liz out to this field in Didmarton for an early morning Balloon ride with Chris Hathaway of David Hathaway Transport. It was also very very cold and frosty. Lucky we got to the field and I caught the end of it. or the beginning, as it was the sunrise. She was going on the ride, not us, we were watching her munchkin and taking photographs. My husband and I were up at 5:30am this morning. It wasn’t as dramatic as we saw on the trip up, but still a nice sunrise I think….

Camtree suction cups/car mount

This support kit comes in a foamed bag with all parts except a pan/tilt head so I mounted a Manfrotto 391RC head I'm using on my skate dolly. It seams to be flexible with a central hub that has many holes which will allow mounting in many directions. I have this upcoming job in a few weeks time and needed some sort of suction cups to mount my Canon 5DmkII and Panasonic AG-AF101 inside and outside a car. In contrary to an all metal mount which just transports vibrations to the camera Last year I rented a mount but felt it could be improved upon....

Golden Falls - Queen's Bath, Kauai, Hawaii

From a trail near the Princeville hotel, you gain access to some incredible coastal scenery including a large lava swimming pool called "Queen's Bath" but on this evening I wanted to capture these falls as they enter the ocean as they are lit by... The falls do not show up well in photographs unless the golden sun is striking them during the summer. The best time to shoot this (because of the angle of the sun hittin gthe water) is probably the summer.
