Double Up
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, which is way easier to do if you have four hands.
When I woke up one morning to find an extra set of hands had grown out of my stomach, I didn’t ask why or how. I just said, this is what the universe has given me and dangit, I’m going to make the most of it! And man has it been great! I can carry in all the groceries in one trip. I can hold the phone to my ear while I’m busy chopping onions. And best of all, I can take pictures without having to drop everything to fish my camera out of my fanny pack!

LEICA BOKEH TEST 1 « Staalwol film

Gregory Simpson Makes His Own Leica M9 Pinhole Lenses Out Of Gaffer's Tape
23.01.12
The dreamy, unsharp quality of the images will no doubt drive some people up the wall, but that's the point, and it might be good for some of us to look at an appreciate images that challenge the standards by which we typically judge an image. In his post over at the Leica blog , he has posted a few examples of his results as well as some of his thoughts on why it makes sense to use a piece of tape for a lens on a full-frame digital rangefinder. Leica's M9 is an amazing camera, capable of capturing photos that are scary sharp, but what happens when you take sharpness out of the picture almost entirely. Chances are you'll either love the resulting photos or absolutely hate them, and that's clearly what the artist was going for. grEGORy Simpson (weird capitalization is his) decided to find out by making himself some pinhole optics out of gaffer's tape and a "sharp object.

Leica Digilux 4
Sunday, January 1, 2012 | 2:57 pmVINTAGE DIGITAL-LEICA DIGILUX 1
Just remember this is a 9 year old 4 mp camera. When I was actively using the Digilux 1 I took it on a number of trips overseas although at that time I still thought of my Leica M6 as my main camera. SD cards were still very small capacity at that time ( the camera came with a tiny 64 mp card) so I shot small JPEG files to ensure that I had enough memory for the trip. One trip was to Shanghai in 2004 and below are four photos from that trip. I spent a few hours trying to get any one of the spare three batteries for the camera to accept a charge and succeeded eventually with just one of them.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS9 Review
If you do not know which mode will give you the best shooting results, or if the photo opportunity suddenly appears and you do not have time to change settings, simply select the mode (Intelligent Auto) iA and let the camera do it all for you. Panasonic DMC-ZS9 camera features a versatile 24mm wide-angle and ultra-powerful 16x optical zoom Leica DC VARIO-Elmar lens and the Intelligent Resolution technology that delivers little detail that goes beyond even the highest optical quality... Lens system is a hallmark of Lumix ZS series , as well as specially-enhanced model. You simply choose iA mode, aim at your subject and shoot. The lens system is also compatible with high shutter speeds min 0. 1 sec / 4000, which means chances are very small shutter lag....

New lamps for old...
The GXR body is rugged and well-made and by all accounts designed by photographers for photographers but it has enjoyed only modest sales success in a market that seems awash with mirrorless interchangable compacts - Micro Four Thirds and others -... This module allows the mounting of Leica M (and other) lenses to the Ricoh body. The GXR itself has been around now for about 18 months, with a small set of dedicated "Lensors" - lenses and sensors combined into a single "dust free" unit. The GXR system is not cheap, and the four Lensors thus far available have themselves been quite pricey. The GXR concept is intriguing, but for a long time has looked like a solution in search of a problem....

Industar-22 Review
The Industar-22 is a lens that looks like a Leica Elmar, but has more in common with a Zeiss Tessar. I won't pretend to be able to judge this, having never laid hands on a Leica Elmar or a Zeiss Tessar. On a micro four thirds body, the Jupiter-8 is a bright short telephoto lens. Wide open, it's sharp though, unlike the Jupiter-8 which is soft wide open. This doesn't give you much reason to stick it on a modern camera body -- unlike say my other Russian lens, the 50mm f/2. 0 Jupiter-8. You can try it on a micro four It's a Russian copy of the Tessar, and from what I've read Russian-made means that the quality can be quite inconsistent. It's a 50mm f/3. 5 lens. This lens was also designed to be collapsible into a rangefinder body. The Industar-22 is middle of the road with its f/3. 5 aperture. I'll venture that you can get some interesting, unique (and sharp) results with this lens....
